Welcome to the Susquehanna Kids Hour of Code™ initiative for 2024!
Join Susquehanna Kids in bringing the global Hour of Code™ initiative to our Valley this December! We’re inviting all educators to participate in this exciting event during Computer Science Education Week, inspiring students to explore computer science with just one hour of coding. By joining us, you’ll be opening doors for kids to continue their STEM journey with hand-picked, affordable programs this spring and summer. Click “Register” below to get involved and help expose hundreds of kids across our community to the world of coding!

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code”, to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Check out the tutorials and activities.
Yes! Hour of Code activities are self-guided. All you have to do is try our current tutorials, pick the tutorial you want, and pick an hour. We have activities for every age and experience-level, starting as early as kindergarten. Start planning your event by reading our how-to guide.
No. If you don’t have a full hour to do the Hour of Code programming, that’s fine! You can allow the students to experience the program for as much time as you have available.

There are certificates that you can print for each child who participates, which will help to share the resource information with caregivers at home. In addition, as a part of our initiative to help children in our Susquehanna Valley discover the excitement of STEM, we will be providing a detail listing of upcoming STEM opportunities for your students. Let’s collaborate to engage children in our community with the incredible local STEM resources available!
