Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club

Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club (SVARC) is a community of licensed Amateur Radio Operators (called Ham Radio operators), primarily in Northumberland, Union and Snyder counties.  We explore the Amateur Radio Service which is a worldwide community of licensed operators using the airwaves with every conceivable means of communications technology. It is made up of people who enjoy learning and transmitting voice, data, and pictures through the airwaves to places near and far without depending on commercial systems. Many people in our club have formed lifelong friendships with people they wouldn’t have otherwise met. We love to mentor youth or unlicensed adults regarding the Amateur Radio Service, which contains a thousand other services and hobbies – a truly lifelong hobby.  We meet monthly at STEAM Innovation Labs on the first Tuesday at 7 p.m. We typically have at least one other club activity each month, which sometimes involves practicing emergency communications from a remote park, attending festivals with other hams, or building equipment by hand across many different STEM disciplines, and lots more.
