Little League Baseball World Series 2024

Little League Baseball World Series 2024

This annual event in South Williamsport began nearly a century ago, and has evolved into “an iconic youth sports event that welcomes 20 teams from around the world to compete for the chance to be named World Series Champion. Along with an incredible baseball experience that includes 38 games over the course of 11 days, the LLBWS provides baseball and non-baseball fans alike with a variety of interactive experiences that creates lifelong memories.”

The best part is that it is FREE to attend and FREE parking, which makes going for a day (or several) a fabulous and affordable experience for the whole family.

History of the LLWS

Beginning in 1939, the Little League program was founded by Carl E. Stotz, an oil company clerk in Williamsport. At first, the LLWS just included teams from Pennsylvania and one from New Jersey. The league has greatly grown and expanded to international levels since the 1950s, and the competition has grown to include more than 2 million kids (boys & girls) and 6,500 teams!

Helpful Hints

Make sure to bring your cardboard ‘sled’! The historic ballpark in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is actually built into the side of a mountain, and beyond the outfield fence is a big hill where fans bring lawn chairs and blankets and-believe it or not-cardboard for kids to ‘sled’ down the hill!

⚾While you’re there, check out World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store, a baseball/softball themed museum with tours, a giftshop and more.

Plan on a lot of walking! Most people park in the neighborhood around the stadium. Be sure to park near the entrance (at the bottom of the hill) rather than the museum. If you park at the top of the hill and try to get in through the museum – you will then need to walk all the way to the bottom, and then walk back up to the stadium.

Choose either stadium seating or grass seating.  Grass seating is fun because it’s easy access to the cardboard sledding hill and the concession stands.  Stadium seating is great to really see the game.  You can bring a blanket and chairs to sit on.

Check their Facebook and website for daily updates.  They sometimes have MLB players come walk through the grass area during the games, and they also post updates, like rain delays.
