If you’ve never visited the children’s floor of the McBride Memorial Library, you are missing out! In this post, we’ll cover their summer reading programs and give you a quick tour of what they have to offer

McBride Memorial Library Virtual and Hands-On Summer Book Club
This is such a neat program, where children receive 1-3 books, depending on age level, and then also receive four crafts/projects to complete during the four week program. The program meets at the library, over Google Meet or the program can be completed on your own at home. The crafts take some time, so are a perfect summer boredom buster! Below are pictures of some of the crafts that the kids will get to make, depending on their age group. You choose the group in which you are most interested in participating:
Picture Books-non readers and beginning readers-you will receive 3 books and one online selection
Kick Off to Chapter Books-initial chapter book readers-you will receive 2 shorter chapter books
Confident Readers-you will receive one chapter book

Below is the hard copy registration form if you would like to drop it off, mail it in, or email HolliS@mcbridelibrary.org. You can also register at: https://mcbridelibrary.org/summer/. Note, there are a limited number of kits and registration is due by June 3rd.

They have curriculum guides and resources, especially for those homeschooling or anyone who just wants to learn more. They matched curriculum materials with books they have in the library to help with your lessons.
Lot’s of play for the little ones!

Who can use services?
They welcome everyone! If you would like a library card, and are out of our service area (determined by the state), you can get a library card at your home library, then you can get a free card at our library if your card has an Access PA sticker on it provided by the home library. If not, it is $15.00 per year or $50.00 for a lifetime membership. If McBride library does not have a book a patron is in need of, they can always look at the Interlibrary Loan System (ILL) and see if they can track down that book for you.
